A Look Back Before I Launch Forward
A Look Back Before I Launch Forward
By Emily Rose Wood | Revolution Photography
My photography story didn’t start with a brand. It started with a heartbeat.
I picked up my first camera in 2001, just a kid chasing curiosity. By 2007, I had my first digital camera—and in 2011, everything clicked. I fell hard for photography and dove headfirst into self-teaching, light-chasing, and storytelling. In 2013, I bought my first DSLR and started capturing everything I could: the ocean, travels, maternity joy, landscapes full of emotion.
But in 2015, I put the camera down. I didn’t know my “why” anymore.
For years, I struggled to pick it back up. Life felt uncertain. Art felt far away.
Then in 2018, everything shifted again. I married my high school boyfriend, and I became a bonus mom. Suddenly, I wasn’t just rediscovering my creativity—I was rediscovering myself. I had forgotten my “why,” but he never did. His love reminded me of who I’ve always been. That year was the beginning of the most beautiful unraveling and rebuilding.
In 2019, I became a mom again and gave birth to my son Emmett. In 2023, I welcomed another little boy into our wild, love-filled home. My hands were full—but so was my heart. And the camera? It slowly found its way back in.
In 2022, my grandfather—my biggest encourager—gifted me all of his old cameras before he passed. He told me he knew I’d do something great with them. That moment became legacy. It became fuel.
From 2018 to 2024, I photographed anything and everything I could—senior portraits, moonlit skies, landscapes, my children’s giggles, animals at peace in their world. The process was slow and sometimes messy, but it was healing. It gave me space to grow and reminded me that my lens still had something to say.
Then, in 2025, I was asked to shoot a few weddings. And just like that—click—I felt the spark. Not flashy. Not loud. Just real. It felt like breath. Like a quiet heartbeat saying, “This is it.”
So Where Is Revolution Photography Going?
It’s growing, just like me.
Right now, I’m still learning. Still loving. Still figuring out the balance between motherhood, storytelling, and bold creative dreams. Revolution Photography was never meant to just be a business—it’s my heart poured into a camera. It’s about capturing emotion, preserving soul, and showing people who they really are.
I’m not just here to take pretty pictures. I’m here to hold space for real love, real life, and the stories you’ll never want to forget.
Because now, I remember why I started. And more than ever—I’m ready.
